The Physical Causes Of Erectile Disfunction And The Reason For Impotency
The physical causes that most stand out are the ones that are diseases such as vascular diseases, and nervous system diseases. Many chronic and debilitating diseases have the potential to have a serious impact on sexual functioning. Vascular diseases have the ability to arrest the flow of blood to the penis which is needed for it to become erect. There is also the added problem of causing the blood not to stay in the penis, thus an erection cannot be held. Nervous system diseases which sexual dysfunction. There are however some diseases that can affect the vascular and nervous systems and will cause erectile dysfunction.
Here is a list of some of the diseases and medical conditions that can cause erectile and sexual dysfunction:
Coronary artery disease. This disease is one where plaque builds up within the coronary arteries. Your coronary arteries supply your heart with oxygen rich blood. This build up plaque will reduce the flow of blood and eventually block the arteries. Heart attacks are more possible at this stage. The blocked or partially blocked arteries can also affect the flow of blood to the penis which would make it difficult to have or sustain an erection.Diabetes. This is due to possible diabetes related blood vessel scaring and also the possible hardening and narrowing of the blood vessel that carries blood to the penis. In turn erectile dysfunction is a very possible outcome. Diabetes has been estimated to increase the risk of impotence by as much as 165% and just over a third of men with the disease tend to have some form of sexual difficulty.
Renal failure. For men who experience this disease ED occurs due to the nitrogenous waste present in the person’s blood (also known as uremia).
Hypertension. Another name for hypertension is high blood pressure. This disease damages the lining of the artery which helps to hasten the onset of coronary artery disease. Men who suffer with hypertension generally have the very prevalent problem of erectile dysfunction. It is estimated that of men with impotence 40% are suffering with hypertension.
